Natural Health Workshops & Acupuncture Pop-up Clinics in Sheffield // 2017

My aim for 2017 is to help empower you with the ability to reach your desired level of well-being, through natural techniques such as Chinese medicine, meditation, movement, nutrition and lifestyle. By understanding what stress is doing to our bodies and how we can take control and manage this, we are then able to also empower others, to lift them and help them reach their true, vibrant and energetic potential, free from physical and emotional “dis-ease”.

I will be running 1 workshop and/or pop-up clinic each month for the next 12 months, centered around a different theme relating to stress and our bodies.

January offers an introduction to stress and the detrimental effects it can have on our physical and emotional health. But throughout the year, I will be delving deeper into specific areas about stress in relation to anxiety, depression, fertility, pain, sleep and IBS.

Collaborating again with Unity Yoga Sheffield, you will be welcomed in to a restful, healing space for 40 minutes of relaxation, surrounded by like-minded people and warming tea for these cold, wintery days.

Acupuncture has been proven time and time again to be one of THE most effective, efficient and affordable forms of pain relief. In recent studies it has been found that acupuncture provides long-term pain relief along with improvements in physical activity levels, quality of sleep and diminished use of pain medication.

The Workshops
Delve in to your body's workings!

Stress manifests itself in many ways, often in ways that we don’t even realise. When our bodies reach this level of stress, we release certain hormones that can have catastrophic effects on our bodies when left unmanaged. Examples include:

Digestive problems // IBS, colitis, diverticular disease, acid reflux, haitus hernia’s Skin problems // ezcema, acne, dermatitis.
Breathing problems // asthma and allergies
Heart problems // high blood pressure and angina
Pain conditions // osteoarthritis, lower back, neck and shoulder pain, migraines
Mental-emotional disorders // sleeplessness, anxiety, panic attacks, emotional outbursts, mental fatigue and low moods/depression.

What do all these things have in common? INFLAMMATION! The stress hormones in our bodies create and irritate our cells leading to chronic inflammatory disorders, such as those mentioned above.

I believe empowerment and change begins with knowledge. It’s not simply enough to seek help through different therapies or take medications to suppress the problem, but to make significant, sustainable change, we must educate ourselves with the tools to combat STRESS before it manifests itself physically or emotionally.

What you will learn //

Each workshop is 60-90 minutes, centered around a different topic each month: depression, pain, sleep, anxiety, IBS and women’s health/fertility. We will explore:

The physiology of stress // How it is impacting our body at a cellular level
Stress from a Chinese medical perspective// How the mind and body are connected and how we interpret different presenting pathologies to help you make sense of your own body
Take home techniques // Acupressure routine to help with the immediate and on-going symptoms of stress. Each routine is unique and will be tailored to the specific topic of the workshop
Nutrition & lifestyle advice // A brief exploration of diet, movement and meditation to help you reduce internal inflammation and stress. I will offer you simple, healthy food recommendations, cooking guidelines and lifestyle advice that can be applied instantly to begin taking control of your health.

Acupuncture in a group setting

Receive an acupuncture treatment in a unique, multi-bed setting. Collaborating with different health and yoga studios across Sheffield, you will be welcomed in to a restful, healing space for 40 minutes of relaxation, surrounded by like-minded people and warming tea for these cold, wintery days.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach to stress is to balance the flow of Qi or energy through meridian lines in your body. Each energy line and emotion is linked to an organ, for example; your Liver energy is tied to anger, Spleen energy to excessive worry, Kidney to fear, and Lung to grief and anxiety. Acupuncture seeks to restore any imbalance by inserting fine needles into key energy points around your body.

In this pop up, multi (yoga) bed acupuncture clinic, you’ll receive a simple, relaxing yet powerful 30 minute treatment that offers you respite from the stresses and symptoms of modern living.

What to expect //

You will be asked to fill in a patient intake form the week before your treatment which I will read and review thoroughly to ensure the treatment is tailored specifically to your needs. Please send this back to me at least 2 days before treatment to allow me sufficient time to review your full health history and create a unique treatment plan, so you get the most out of your treatment.

On arriving at the pop-up clinic, you will lie fully clothed on one of the yoga beds, made comfortable with blankets, bolsters and blocks. This is then followed by a deeply relaxing and effective acupuncture session, resting for 30 minutes. Warming herbal teas will be served before and after your treatment.
